Getting a tune in your iPhone and setting it as the ringtone can be a bit tricky than android, but it is possible (fortunately).

  • There open iTunes and connect your phone with the system using the cable.
  • In iTunes go to File > Add File to Library and select the file you want to set as ringtone

  • Use these parts to filter which part of the song you want to keep using the start and stop timing, later, convert the trimmed part into the AAC version. The parts you highlight get into the form of a new AAC file.
  • Now, you need to change the AAC format further in.m4r where the “r” stands for the ringtone. This way, iTunes gets an idea that you want to have it as your ringtone. To do this, you just need to find the saved file and rename it as .m4r format.

Tip: Make sure the file you have is not more than 35 seconds else iPhone will not recognize the ringtone format.

  • Use Windows explorer if you use a Windows device or use  Show in Finder if you are on a Mac device. Now that you have the file, just drag and drop it into the iTunes library.
  • In the iTunes interface, make sure your phone is connected and in the menu go to Devices and choose your phone’s name.
  • In the new screen, go to the Ringtones tab and select “Sync ringtones.”
  • Take off your phone from the computer and follow this path Settings >> Sounds >> Ringtone and there you can see the edited part on the top. Choose it in the “Custom” section and there you have it.
